New Hampshire's Great Park Pursuit  

Hello Teams!!

As you are well aware, the Great Park Pursuit Grand Finale will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Odiorne Point State Park.  The Seacoast Science Center will be our partner in the 2008 final event.  Below is a detail of the day for you. 

We hope that you have had a great time so far and will enjoy this event at Odiorne.  It looks like the weather actually will be quite nice, but we should keep our fingers crossed.

Remember to bring your Great Park Pursuit Scorecard, bug spray, sunscreen, picnic lunch, extra water and whatever else to make your day enjoyable.  There are about 3 miles of bike trails in the park and plenty of lawn for picnicking.

The day will lay out as follows:
Registration will begin at 10am
First program will begin at 10:30am
Awards Ceremony at 2pm 

Programs and other activities:
Outdoors On Your Own - Playground Fun, Scavenger Hunt, History Audio tour
Arts & Crafts - Make a Team Banner and Edible Sea Creatures – Sugden House 

Program Schedule:
10:30 GeoAdventures – Seacoast Science Center, Gregg Learning Studio
11:00 Frost Point Guided Walk – meet at center entrance
11:30 GeoAdventures – Seacoast Science Center, Gregg Learning Studio
12:00 Lookout at the Light House (half hour)
12:30 Frost Point Guided Walk – meet at center entrance
1:00   Lucky the Lobster – meet at center entrance
1:30   GeoAdventures – Seacoast Science Center, Gregg Learning Studio 

Program Descriptions:

GeoAdventures, Assignment: Gulf of Maine:  30 minutes.  GeoAdventures will teach you how everything in the environment is interconnected; that our lives influence the oceans and the oceans influence our lives.

Frost Point Guided Walk:  60 minutes.  Take a walk with a Seacoast Science Center naturalist and learn about the park’s natural and cultural history. 

Lighthouses: 30 minutes.  Hear about our four different lighthouses and learn about how they safely guide ships into harbor.

Lucky the Lobster: 30 minutes. Take time to learn a little about New England’s favorite dinner. Hear about the lobsters lives from living in the sea to your dinner plate.

Arrive in time to take advantage of all these great programs the Seacoast Science Center is hosting.  Please send me an email to let me know if you will be attending on the 17th, and if you can’t be there, let me know.
